Chlorophytum comosumの写真

キジカクシ科クロロフィツム属の代表種。細長い葉と、ランナーの先端につく子株が特徴の定番観葉植物。熱帯アフリカ南部から南部アフリカ広域が原産。

説明

肉質の根を持つ多年草で、束生する細長い葉は長さ20〜60cm、幅1〜3cm。花序は長さ30〜75cmに達し、分枝して先端は下垂する。基部の苞葉から小植物体（子株）を形成し、偽胎生繁殖を行う。花は白色で星形、直径約1cm。観葉植物として世界中で広く栽培され、斑入り品種（'Vittatum' 'Variegatum'等）が特に一般的。

生育環境

サハラ以南のアフリカ広域（西熱帯アフリカからカメルーン、エチオピアから南アフリカ）に分布。常緑林や河岸林の林床、岩の隙間、時には着生し、海面高度から2450mまでの多様な環境に適応する。日陰を好む性質がある。
